The Council of Architecture (CoA) conducts the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) each year. It is one of the most important examinations conducted annually for the students of architecture.
In line with the nature of the competitive examination each year, it will conclude in two sessions in 2020. And of course, candidates are going to take it in large numbers this year.
While some candidates associate their chances of cracking the examination with the luck factor, others believe they can write their destiny with hard work and systematic preparation. In a way, both these factors work together to help the aspirants get the desired outcomes.
But the fact remains that along with a candidate’s full-fledged preparation, a lot depends on their approach. Are you one of the candidates for the NATA examination in 2020? If yes, the preparation tips, strategy, and exam pattern below will help you embrace success in it.
Exam Pattern for NATA 2020
Knowing the subjects and topics or the detailed syllabus for NATA 2020 will be the key to draw up the right strategy for your preparation for it. Make certain to gather comprehensive information about it before you starting your NATA preparation.
As far as the NATA syllabus is concerned, it consists of 2 parts: Part A & Part B. The former consists of the Drawing Test, whereas the latter consists of many subjects. These include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and General Aptitude.
As regards the exam pattern for NATA 2020, it will be an online exam with a duration of 2 hours. The examination will be 200 marks without any negative marking.
For Part A, the maximum duration will be 72 minutes or 1 hour 12 minutes, with a 3-minute break. Overall, you will get 10 questions in this part with 6 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 4 preferential type questions (PTQs).
You will need to answer the questions of Part B in the remaining duration of time. This part will have a total of 15 questions from physics, chemistry, and mathematics, and 35 questions from General Aptitude & Logical Reasoning.
Preparation Tips & Strategy for NATA 2020
Along with a good understanding of the concepts, you also need to adjust time and accuracy to answer the questions in the question paper. You will have the best chance to crack the examination only if you answer all of them.
The only way to perfect yourself for it is to practice as much as you can. Remember, the more you practice the NATA sample paper, the better you will get.
Most students choose a combination of notes and books to prepare for their examinations. There is a good reason why they do it. After all, books are the best friends for preparing for the test. But when it comes to studying for NATA, you need to choose the right set of books.
The market is always flooded with a variety of books; all claim to deliver the best and relevant stuff for NATA entrance examination preparation. Not all of them fit the purpose, though.
The following NATA books will help you sail through the challenge of the examination with flying colors:
Name of the books | Authors |
Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning Book | R.S. Agarwal |
NATA & B.Arch Complete Self Study Material: Entrance Examination | Usmani |
B.Arch Entrance Examination guide | Surendra Kavimandan |
A Complete Self Study Guide for B.Arch | P.K. Mishra |
While an in-depth study of your subject matter will be important to gain an insight into the concepts, you will also need to focus on the important stuff. Keep a pen and a piece of paper handy while going through the study material and jot down the key points about important concepts from it.
Next, prepare short notes using those points. This smart strategy will help you remember most of the things you learn. Also, it will help you save a lot of time and prepare for the examination effectively. On your part, it will be much easier to go through the notes than going through the entire study material during revision.
Stress factor is the part and parcel of taking an examination for a candidate. But over-emphasizing it will only serve to lower your confidence level. Preparation, coupled with the right outlook, will be your best bet to deal with it. Together, both will help you deliver your best performance in the examination hall.
